NHS, healthcare and professional partnerships
Working Together to Improve FND Support
Better FND support requires better connections between the people living with the condition, the professionals caring for them and the organisations working to improve their lives.
FND Connect is an independent UK Community Interest Company bringing together lived experience, practical support, education and free digital tools.
We're looking to build meaningful relationships with healthcare organisations, clinicians, universities and researchers who share our commitment to improving understanding and support for people affected by Functional Neurological Disorder.
Who we are and what we offer
An independent CIC with services already operating
FND CONNECT CIC (company number 17313147) was established to address gaps in understanding, information and practical support for people living with Functional Neurological Disorder. The tools below are live. This hub connects them; it does not duplicate them.
SeizeControl
Free seizure and symptom recording. Appointment-ready summaries from the person’s own records. Not a diagnostic system or emergency monitor.
Open SeizeControl →FND Passport
A patient-controlled profile for communicating needs and important information. The person decides what to share.
Open FND Passport →FND-aware clinician directory
A searchable register of reviewed clinician and service listings. Separate from organisational partnerships.
Open FND-aware clinician directory →Research portal
Aggregated, anonymised SeizeControl insights. Verified clinicians see additional aggregate views. That is not project-specific research access.
Open Research portal →Professional FND training
Seven existing courses covering adult and paediatric healthcare, schools, colleges, workplace, social care and family carers. Certificates of Completion are issued. Courses are not described as externally CPD-accredited unless that accreditation is obtained.
Open Professional FND training →Start here
A calm first path after diagnosis, suitable to share without overwhelming someone.
Open Start here →Appointment preparation
Structured questions and information to take to clinic.
Open Appointment preparation →GP leaflets
Free printable patient information leaflets for general practice and clinics.
Open GP leaflets →Community and virtual groups
Local and virtual peer support. Peer support does not replace clinical care.
Open Community and virtual groups →Practical support
Advocacy, disability-related guidance and routes to grants where available.
Open Practical support →How we can work together

Clinical and professional education
Use the existing seven-course catalogue, book for a team, or discuss a separate educational arrangement.

Use public materials without a complex agreement
Leaflets, posters and a partnership pack are ready to download. Ordinary public information does not need a contract. Registering interest helps us send updates.
Digital tools and service evaluation
SeizeControl, Passport and appointment tools
Teams can explore demonstrations, usability work or a feasibility pilot. These tools are not diagnostic systems, emergency monitors or replacements for clinical decision-making. An enquiry never authorises access to private user records.
Research and academic collaboration
A governed proposal process, not open data
Start with the existing research portal for approved aggregated information. Additional access, participant recruitment and lived-experience involvement are reviewed separately. SeizeControl records are self-reported and are not a general-access institutional resource.
Clinical and Professional Advisory Group
Independent advice, not an NHS committee
The group strengthens accuracy and professional confidence. It does not manage the organisation and is not a statutory regulator. Profiles are published only after appointment, verification and publication approval.
Appointed adviser profiles will appear here when they are verified and publication has been approved. People who have only been approached are not listed.
Institutional partnerships
Larger collaborations use written agreements
Regional pathways, awareness work and programme development are documented in writing. Commercial sponsorship and paid services are distinguished from independent advice and research. NHS services listed in the clinician directory are not automatically FND Connect partners.
Our impact and governance
Evidence with sources, not mixed headlines
Website visits and downloads are not health outcomes. Each figure below names its source. Organisation-wide impact remains on the public impact page.
Become a partner
Start with the route that fits
We acknowledge professional enquiries. Resource-sharing requests are usually the most straightforward. Research, clinical pilots and institutional partnerships take longer because they need internal review. We will tell you what happens next after we have read your enquiry. We do not guarantee a fixed number of working days.
Frequently asked questions
Clear answers for a first conversation
Is FND Connect part of the NHS?
No. FND Connect is an independent UK Community Interest Company (company number 17313147). It is not part of the NHS. We work with healthcare organisations where that is useful. We do not claim NHS endorsement unless a specific endorsement exists, and we do not use NHS identity without the required permissions.
Do we need a contract to share patient leaflets?
No. Ordinary public information can be shared without a complex agreement. Registering interest helps us know who is using the materials and when they need an update. A formal agreement is only required where the relationship warrants one.
Is SeizeControl a diagnostic or monitoring system?
No. SeizeControl is a free tool that helps people record functional seizures, symptoms and observations. It is not a diagnostic system, emergency monitor or replacement for clinical decision-making. Any clinical deployment needs a separate safety and information-governance assessment.
Are your training courses CPD-accredited?
Existing courses issue Certificates of Completion. They are not described as externally CPD-accredited or as regulated clinical qualifications unless such accreditation is obtained. Team booking is available for the current catalogue.
Will an enquiry give our team access to patient records?
No. A partnership enquiry never authorises access to private SeizeControl records, FND Passport data or identifiable member information. Being listed as a clinician is also separate from project-specific research access.
How do research proposals work?
Researchers submit a structured proposal. FND Connect reviews it against ethics, data protection, participant involvement and safeguarding before committing. Start with the existing research portal for approved aggregated information. Additional access is project-specific and separately approved.
Does joining the Advisory Group mean my employer endorses FND Connect?
No. Membership is personal and advisory. The group is not an NHS committee or a statutory regulator. Advisers review subjects within their competence and may disagree without pressure to approve a publication or product.
How quickly will you reply?
We acknowledge professional enquiries. Straightforward resource-sharing requests are usually the quickest. Research, clinical pilots and institutional partnerships take longer because they need internal review. We do not guarantee a fixed turnaround.
Will you list our NHS service as an FND Connect partner?
Only if a real partnership has been agreed and the organisation has given publication consent. The clinician directory is a separate register of professionals and services. It is not a partnership directory.
Can we send patient names or NHS numbers through the form?
No. Do not submit patient names, NHS numbers or medical records. The form is for organisational collaboration only.
