This Is What Community Looks Like: Two Wheelchairs Funded This Week

This week FND Connect issued grants for two wheelchairs — practical mobility support for real people living with Functional Neurological Disorder. That is your kindness in action.

The headline: this week FND Connect issued grants for two wheelchairs for people living with FND. Mobility aids mean independence, safety and dignity — and every grant is funded by community generosity.

Real change. Real people.

When FND affects mobility, a wheelchair is not a luxury. It can be the difference between staying home and getting out, between risking a fall and moving safely, between missing appointments and making them.

This week, thanks to our community, FND Connect has been able to issue grants for two wheelchairs — helping real people access the support, mobility and independence they need.

This is real change.
This is your kindness in action.
This is what happens when a community comes together and says: “We’re not leaving people behind.”

Thank you

Because of your generosity, we have been able to issue grants for two wheelchairs this week. Every fundraiser, donation, raffle ticket, bake sale and share helps make moments like this possible.

Why mobility grants matter for FND

Functional Neurological Disorder can change how the body moves, balances and manages fatigue. Symptoms often fluctuate — someone may walk on one day and need a wheelchair the next. That does not make the need less real.

Wheelchairs and other aids help people:

  • protect energy for the things that matter most;
  • reduce falls and injury risk;
  • attend appointments, school, work or social life;
  • stay independent without waiting on a perfect “good day”;
  • live with less shame about using the right tool for the day.

The NHS and social care cannot always fund equipment quickly — or at all. That is why FND CONNECT CIC raises money for practical support: mobility aids, therapies and community programmes that people need now.

We need your help to keep going

There are so many more people living with FND who need practical support, equipment, resources, community and hope. We simply cannot do this without you.

Please keep helping us raise the funds that make this work possible. You could:

  • Open a fundraiser — online or offline
  • Get sponsored for a challenge, walk, roll, swim, cycle or climb
  • Make a donation — one-off or regular
  • Hold a bake sale or coffee morning
  • Do a car boot sale or sell unwanted items online
  • Run a raffle or quiz night
  • Sell crafts or organise a dress-down day at work
  • Host a sponsored gaming stream or dog walk
  • Brave a sponsored haircut or head shave
  • Ask your school, workplace or local club to support us

Big or small, it all matters. Every fundraiser, every share, every donation, every conversation helps us reach more people and offer more support to those who need it most.
