The FND Challenge

They said I couldn't Walk Long Distance

So I'm going to Climb A Mountain For FND

Climbing Pen y Fan for FND Connect

In 2021, my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).

Since then, every day has been a battle. I live with daily seizures, periods of paralysis that have left me relying on a wheelchair, countless hospital admissions, and the constant uncertainty of never knowing what my body is going to do next. FND has taken away so much, from my independence to my confidence, and there have been times when even the simplest things have felt impossible.

But I refuse to let FND define who I am.

This challenge is about taking back a little control. It isn’t about being the fastest or reaching the top with ease. It’s about proving to myself that I am stronger than the obstacles FND puts in my way.

I will be climbing Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, to raise £300 for FND Connect CIC—an organisation dedicated to supporting people living with Functional Neurological Disorder, raising awareness, providing resources, and ensuring no one has to face this condition alone.

Every step up that mountain will represent the challenges people with FND face every single day. There may be moments where my body wants me to stop, where the symptoms become overwhelming, but I’ll keep going because I know I’m climbing for something much bigger than myself.

If my journey can inspire just one person with FND to believe in themselves, or help someone feel less alone, then every step will have been worth it.

Your support, whether through a donation or simply sharing my fundraiser, will help FND Connect continue supporting people and families whose lives have been turned upside down by this misunderstood condition.

Thank you for believing in me and for helping me make a difference.

Together, let’s show that FND may change our lives, but it doesn’t have to stop us reaching new heights.
