How do you help someone who’s ticing a lot or is Going into a seizure?

’s answer

As someone who also struggles with FND, I know how scary and overwhelming it can be when your tics or seizures get worse. One of the biggest things I’ve learnt is that everyone with FND is different, and what helps one person might not help another.

If someone is ticing a lot, try to stay calm and don’t make them feel embarrassed or stressed about it. Sometimes talking about random things, something they’re interested in, or putting on music they love or find calming can help. Just being there and helping them feel comfortable can make a really big difference.

With seizures, everyone can experience them differently too. If you can, it’s always best to talk to the person beforehand and ask what they would like you to do. If you haven’t had that conversation, make sure they’re somewhere safe where they’re less likely to hurt themselves, stay with them, and try to make them feel as safe and calm as possible.

You don’t have to have all the answers. Sometimes just staying beside someone, listening to them, and reminding them that they’re not alone is enough. ❤️
